(stjarnell@yahoo.com) Recommended first album:First Sight is their debut Recordings:First Sight (2007) First SightRelease info:2007—HardKandy Records Availability:Unknown Ecto priority:Recommended Group members:Florencia Bourdin—guitar, vocals Guest artists:Greg L. Hines—keyboard bass (4, 5, 9, 10, 15), keyboards (5, 15), additional keyboards (10, 13), four-string bass (2, 7, 14), feedback guitar (6), backing vocals (6) Produced by:Greg L. Hines and Romina Bourdin Comments:Alphafemes' debut is bubbly, infectious but hardly too mainstream pop. The lead singer's voice is deep and mature and the songs are better than average. The girls' determination shines through on every song. "Daddy was a rock star" is one of the strongest songs, with an immediate chorus. "The Broken man" avoids clichél though it's about an often-used subject. Alphafemes really are that good and they should have a bright future ahead.
