Comments:

Tori Amos's Native Invader is definitely worth a listen or two, but so far it hasn't compelled me to listen to more than that. (jjhanson@att.net)

I didn't love Native Invader enough to listen more than a few times, but "Up the Creek" was definitely my favorite [track], and I have listened to it A LOT. (timjy@sbcglobal.net)

Tori seems back on form. One of the best albums of the year. (dbucak@netaxs.com)

One of the best albums of the year. (lasherboy@gmail.com)

I thought Native Invader had some good songs when it first came out (namely "Cloud Riders" and "Up the Creek") but I wasn't inspired to listen to it much. Then one day, I decided to return to it, and I found I liked it a lot. There are a few weird sounds in the early tracks that are somewhat off-putting but not enough to mar the songs or the album. "Cloud Riders" and "Up the Creek" (still my favorite tracks) are REALLY good and I would start there if you haven't heard those songs yet. Overall, I find this her strongest and most cohesive work in years. It's also shorter (13 songs, less than an hour). Some of her albums seem to go on and on, so she probably did a better job culling weaker material. (JoAnn Whetsell)
