(the ep only has two songs that aren't on the album, although most of the versions are different. the ep also has what i think is the album's best song, 'the bike' but the record is pretty consistent as a whole.) sheryl crow is probably not a terrible reference point stylistically/vocally. i've even learned to tolerate the song with 'angels' in the lyric, a bit of a personal bugaboo. I got the pleasure of catching Amy on The Girls Room Tour—and I'm so glad I did!!! She was backed simply with her guitar and her baritone ukelele plus her amazing cello player Gerri Sutyak. Amy charmed the crowd and I'm sure won over MANY new listeners that night. Her voice sounds much stronger live than on the EP, much lighter too...but when Amy took the stage and started the encore "It's a Man's World", that is when she proved herself a rock star! I picked up this EP right after I saw Amy's set with The Girls Room tour. I fell in love immediately with every song on the EP. I have to admit it's just a BIG tease because you want more...I guess that's the whole point of the EP though. I can definitely say I'll be buying Carnival Love the day it comes out! Her songwriting is simply brilliant in terms of people like Aimee Mann and Ani DiFranco but once again, it's like nothing I've ever heard before. "Angels Collide" is heart-breaking while "Starfishin" is simple yet catchy. My favorite track is a toss up between "The Bike" (a killer in concert) and "DayDream Car" both of which should earn Amy MUCH respect from anyone who hears her. I can't say enough...she is one of the greatest new artists to emerge and I can't wait for more!!!! (RocketsTail@aol.com)

FINALLY! I've been waiting for this album for months now, and I can proudly say that I am NOT disappointed. Thirteen songs—thirteen masterpieces. Amy's arrangments are simple yet poignant and just great to listen to. Her songwriting remains fun, witty, and compelling at the same time. Songs like "Fallen out of Love", "Chinatown", and "Angels Collide" can be heart-breakers while "Daydream Car" and "Life is Beautiful" are anthems that you'll find yourself singing along with after one listen! Amy is one of the brightest new artists I've heard in a long time!
