Julia DarlingCountry of origin:Born in New Plymouth in New Zealand, moved to Melbourne, Australia, now lives in New York City, U.S.A. Type of music generally:Mainstream pop mostly, with folk/rock elements. Status:Most recent release, The Long White (2017) See also:Julia Darling's Bandcamp site Comparisons:A friend said she is a bit like Tracy Bonham, I hear a little Patty Griffin. But she's also just very "Julia." (bravegirl@earthlink.net) Covers/own material:Own General comments:I have her album and it's really incredible, I definitely recommend checking it out. (Songbird22@aol.com) Comments about live performance:Just saw Julia Darling last night. Julia was not bad, she was a confident performer with a strong voice and some good songs, and she definitely made some fans at her first show in Canada. As for me I found that there were a few songs I liked quite well but then quite a lot that I found quite boring as well...I liked enough of her songs that I'll definitely keep tabs on her progress but I wasn't floored by her and I'm not running out to my nearest CD store to buy her CD, which was just released yesterday up here in the Great White North.
