My DivaCountry of origin:U.S. Type of music generally:Ethereal/crunchy alternative rock Status:Disbanded—only release, My Diva ep (1992) See also:The Ectophiles' Guide entry for Juned, a band Claudia Groom was in following My Diva Comparisons:Juned, Her Majesty the Baby, Kittywinder Covers/own material:Own General comments:Claudia Groom was the leading singer/songwriter on this, and so the music sounds much like the Juned albums, particularly Every Night For You which she had the strongest hand in writing. The band combines ethereal vocals with a driving, dominant, guitar sound. (Neile) Recommended first album:My Diva ep Recordings:My Diva ep (1992) My Diva epRelease info:1992—Manna, 915 E. Very much a precursor to Juned's, Every Night For You, which is one of my favourite indie rock albums ever. There are only three songs on this ep, but they're all longish (5:48, 6:14, and 10:15). Sometimes a little drifty and dreamy, but always in motion. (Neile) Further info:Claudia Groom and Christine Roskam also worked on Dale Lloyd's After the Flood project. |
