General comments:

The track that led me to buy their disc was a little misleading, as it is the most quiet and melodic track on the disc with the most usual kind of singing. However, most of their sound is rather like Värttinä's—a kind of harmonic cross between shouting and singing. This sounds to me slightly more melodic/less discordant than Värttinä's sound. Anyway, I'm sure that anyone who likes Värttinä will like this. Their overall sound reminds me very much of them, though perhaps a little toned down. They do sounds like they're having lots of fun, singing their sparsely accompanied folk songs. The "7" part of this is that there are four voices, a cello, a viola, and a fiddle (though there really are 8 members in the bands since there are two violist who alternate, at least in the recorded version of the music. Highly recommended for fans of Nordic folk. (sophiagurley@hotmail.com)

Comments:

This album is mostly the loud shouting/singing like Värttinä's and if you like that, you will certainly like this album. Unfortunately, my taste for this kind of music is limited, and I far prefer the more traditional sound of the one track where they sing in the more usual, boring manner. Others will love this.
