Comments:

I had high hopes based on the track "16 Shades of Blue," (which I heard before the album's release and which I still love) and some reviewers calling it her best album in 20 years. Sadly, it's one of the rare albums that I've grown to like less the more I listen to it. The more upbeat/poppier songs ("Trouble's Lament," "Wedding Day," and even "America") seem more successful. Many of the songs have pretty and delicate melodies, hearkening back to songs like "Icicle" and "Bells for Her" (which I love) but nevertheless they just bore me. Too much of the album is like that for me—pretty on the surface, but rather dull. (JoAnn Whetsell)

I like the Tori Amos but thought it was inessential. (timjy@sbcglobal.net)

I'm on the fence with this one. I recall enjoying listening to Unrepentant Geraldines but I can't think of another Tori Amos record that has left so few impressions here in my head after having been out for almost a year. Rating: 50/100. Best tracks: "America," "Trouble's Lament," "Unrepentant Geraldines," "Promise." (raschee@gmail.com)

My final opinion of Unrepentant Geraldines is that the songs are mainly worse than those on Abnormally Attracted to Sin and American Doll Posse, but they fooled me at first because of the cleaner production and arrangements. (k_hester_k@yahoo.co.nz)

One of the best albums of the year. (lasherboy@gmail.com)
